EVENT COVERAGE GUIDELINES:

Event Bloggers should focus on informational sessions, meetings, programs, and events, but may also post about other Conference activities as long as the content of the post is relevant for school libraries and librarians.

  • All Conference/event posts are due within 7 days of the end of the event ! This helps keep the information fresh and relevant for our readers, yet still allows enough time for any wrap-up reports and after-thoughts.
  • Each post should focus on a specific session or program at an event.  The post's title should be the program name.
  • Links to handouts and additional resources for/from programs may be included in the post, or added later in a comment.
  • Bloggers should not post about programs where they are one of the primary presenters. They may, however, provide additional insights as commenters.

  • Posts about Vendor-sponsored events are a sticky wicket, so please follow these caveats:
    • If the event's purpose is primarily social/food and/or product marketing, do NOT post about it.
    • If the event's content is useful for school libraries/librarians, the vendor may be mentioned within the body of the post only as an underwriter of the event.

The vendor's name should NEVER be in the title of the post!

  • Posts about specific exhibitors and exhibit hall swag (branded tchotchkes from vendors) are not allowed, to prevent any accusations of favoritism and/or 'product placement'  from other vendors.

  • Posts to the blog that do not meet the guidelines listed above may be marked as Drafts  (hiding the post from the public blog) by the Blog Managers, until such time as the issue with the post is resolved.

note: all Event Bloggers must be approved by the Blog Managers (see NewBloggers info) before they can be given posting rights to the AASL Blog.
